Capabilities and Facilities
Sulzer Metco Canada's origins can be traced back to the early 1960's,
when it began producing and selling screened nickel powders. Proven
nickel refining technologies were adapted to the production of nickel
coated composite powders. Through the 70's 80's and 90's, various
composite powders were added to the product line, including nickel
coated aluminum, nickel coated graphite and alloy composites.
In the 1990's, in response to increasing demand for specialized
composite materials, Sulzer Metco Canada initiated a multi-year program
to modernize the facility and expand our operations. Today, our
facilities include 78,000 ft2 of production and warehousing areas,
12,000 ft2 of staff offices and 22,000 ft2 of dedicated laboratory
space.
Sulzer Metco Canada currently utilizes a combination of
hydrometallurgical, pyrometallurgical, electrochemical and physical
processes to precisely tailor the properties of our products to meet our
customers' stringent requirements. Our plant is equipped with three
fully automated high pressure autoclaves, various furnaces and dryers,
blenders, attrition and classification equipment. A team of highly
skilled operators monitor the plant performance on a 24-7 basis. Our
plant equipment with its modern
distributed control system (DCS) is maintained in peak condition by
our own highly skilled team of trades people.
